More Runway Shows

Since 2011, I’ve been honored to be part of dozens of fashion shows. Here are some highlights….

I’m always so honored to be invited to participate in fashion shows and events in Kansas City. Here are just a few of those shows beyond KCFW and Local Runway.

The West 18th Street Fashion show is a unique experience where the runway is set up in the street of a super fun and creative block. The vibrancy and unique energy of an outdoor show is something else! I’ve participated in two seasons, 2012 and 2016, both with a design partner or group. The first collection in 2012, designed alongside Margie Hogue under ANAMA, our theme was interpreting the Kentucky Derby. Each of our hand dyed looks incorporated leather, texture, deep colors and was inspired by the ribbons and metals won at races. The second collection I helped created for West 18th St. was under the direction and design of Phil Keophaphone and the theme was Seance. We worked with 5 designers to execute Phil’s vision and had absolutely incredible jewelry, or wearable art, created by Sydney Penner. We were even lucky enough to be published in Elements Magazine with this collection. Both experiences were creative highlights of my career and were so great to collaborate with other artists in the process.

Two other shows I loved participating in over the last few years were Vogue in the Vines and the Babes KC show. Vogue in the Vines, which was hosted at a local winery, was in support of Ngan Vuong of Enve Designs, where I provided a few original garments and also supported her in styling and pulling other designer looks in 2018. That same year, Babes KC was a charity fashion show where I was able to pull together my most luxurious gowns in a rainbow presentation of velvets. Each dress was from a previous collection, a continuation of a theme, and were in soft and comfortable fabrics that made each model feel decadent.

One of the most unique show experiences I’ve had was at the end of 2020 with the show, Unattended, curated by Christian Micheal. This show was one with no audience, limited person-to-person contact, and included decorative face masks I created, as part of each look. Similar to other shows, this one was a combination of previously created collections, in a rainbow order, and styled to complement each other. Fun fact, for 3 of the pieces, I reached out to clients who had purchased garments before and asked if I could rent them for the show. I have the best clients! Take a look at the photos, but especially the video, the models and videographer did an incredible job in unique circumstances.

While creating new collections is something of my past, the joy and satisfaction of putting on a show will stay with me forever.
